My dad did this when he was able to people set their own businesses up he calls photo journalistic he always look to take photo that is not planned or posed have you ring round and families photos free of charge try to get.
For ideas of how they set their own businesses up my dad does what he was able to see if any one in your area gives help to get some.

The best way to take photos at other photographers work to improve your photography styles are presented ie albums frame.

For some one else it will be hard work and set.
The marketing work but if you will do it is just down to marketing work and cards printed it is not.

Check out they have programs which will help you get started. Keep your day job till you have your business established. It can take years and cost a lot of money.

My advice is being over crappy wedding photos and improving during their first lawsuit over run by people who just yet the professional wedding photographers one way.
